Welcome!
The Girl Friends Fund, Inc. ("GF Fund"), a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit
organization, was established on February 23, 1988 to help young
African-American men and women realize their dream of an equal opportunity to a
college education. The GF Fund is supported through generous donations from
members and chapters of our parent organization, The Girl Friends Inc., and the
general public. Awards are presented to graduating high school seniors who
maintain an established G.P.A., and who plan to attend an accredited four-year
institution. In addition, the GF Fund sponsors a fundraising luncheon as part of
the Annual Conclave.
The GF Fund is very proud of its Scholarship Program and our
young scholars. Since 1995 the Fund has made awards to students who have
graduated from Ivy League, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU),
and other institutions of higher learning nationwide. Most scholarship awards
are a minimum of $1,000 annually, for up to four years. Applications are
currently on-line. Click on Scholarships for more
information.
The GF Fund's annual fundraising luncheon, "Honoring Generations of
Friendship", brings friends together over lunch to share the bonds of
friendship. Members and guests are entertained with salient information by
acclaimed speakers, authors, and performance artists, while increasing the
Fund's endowment through silent auctions and special raffles. Girl Friends can
now purchase tickets online. Click on GF Fund Annual Luncheon for
more information.
The GF Fund has created special ways to recognize our donors.
Donations may be tax deductible. All contributions to The GF Fund
will be recognized at the GF Fund Annual Meeting and included in our Annual
Report. There is an established tradition to distinguish different levels of
giving by presenting donors with a medallion or inscribing their name on a
plaque, which is kept on display during Conclave. To honor our donors, the Fund
is pleased to introduce on our website, the GF Fund Legacy Tree.
The Legacy Tree is a creative approach to honor a loved one, a
special occasion, and be recognized for different levels of giving. Donations
may be made by mail or online. Click on Donations for
more information. Click on each leaf to see who has made a donation. For more information on making your donation or pledge, click on DONATE.
